Every sports fan in Philadelphia had this same encounter at least once today.
Whether talking to a friend, co-worker or just a person you ran into at the gym the first words that came out were the same:

“Go Birds.”

That quickly, the page is turned.

Naturally the conversation turned back to the Phillies Game 6 loss Wednesday night, but there is no way you could let it start it out that way.

Game Six was as ugly as it was frustrating and talking about it just gets fans even more riled up.

That’s why it is time to dial back in to the Eagles.

The Eagles shrugged off an inexcusable loss to the Oakland Raiders by rebounding with divisional wins against the Washington Redskins and New York Giants.

At 5-2 they are in the conversation as one of the best teams in the NFC and now that their fan base will be 100 percent attached it is time to make another big statement on Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys come to town.

After watching the Yankees storm off with the World Series trophy that seemed destined to remain in Philly, fans of the city are frustrated and angry. Who better to take that frustration out on than the hated Cowboys?

Dallas enters the game on a hot streak as the emergence of receiver Miles Austin has given Tony Romo a go-to target. As a result Romo is in the midst of one of the best three-week stretches of his career.

At 2-2, the Cowboys were counted out. Now at 5-2, they are threatening to take over the NFC East. That’s where the Eagles come in. Losing to the Yankees and Cowboys in one week would be too much for the fan base to take.

The Eagles are once again this city’s  No. 1 team. With the Phillies out of the picture, they are fully in the spotlight.

And what better way to raise up the spirits of Philadelphian’s than beating up on the Dallas Cowboys!
